Fall Racing Series Feature: Jake Wallach
Throughout our Virtual Fall Racing Series, we interview different athletes who share their story and why they have chosen to run with Spewak Training. Today we feature a good friend of ours, Jake Wallach who is now starting to find the itch for running. Read his feature below! CS: What prompted you to sign up for our Fall Racing Series? JW: I participated in the Summer Team Challenge, (s/o Tipsy Tacos) and it gave me a sense of consistency that I was looking for in running. I had such a great experience with the challenge I decided to keep the ball a rollin' and do the Fall Racing Series as well! CS: How has your running been impacted by being able to participate in our summer competition and this fall series? JW: Running has been woven into my routine! A steady want to perform at a high level in the competitions // virtual races comes with training on the other days of the week. My mindset around running has shifted for the better without question. CS: As someone who has always run to keep in shape, how has it been to have specific goals such as meeting the distance of these specific events? JW: Transparently, I'd never done a time trial or held my running to any sort of standard before this. Which I'm sure lends itself to the laissez-faire nature of my running. Mostly just ran when I was feeling out of shape or had a spark of motivation. With more concrete timelines and goals in mind I find myself constantly eager to run and improve. CS: What have you learned most about your running in these last several months? JW: Mostly I've learned that what people say is true, running is a meditation and has so many benefits other than just building your endurance. It motivates you to be fit, have a productive day, and the list goes on. CS: Do you plan on continuing to run throughout the winter in Chicago? Man... I hope so. I'm already feeling the cold, but excuses never got anybody anywhere, right?
