Virtual Competition Team Feature: Team Tipsy Tacos

During the summer months of July and August, Spewak Training athletes are competing in an 8 team Virtual Team Competition. Each team has been assigned 6 runners & are competing for the top two spots in their respective division. Teams are competing head to head in a various amount of different events including: Guess your pace run, Donut Mile, Costume Run, King of the Hill Challenge, Strava Art Competition, and a few time trials. In this blog we feature, Team Tipsy Tacos!   The Tipsy Tacos are led by their fearless captain, Katie Hoffecker. What was the inspiration behind their name you may ask? Hoffecker explains, drinking and eating tacos is very popular among the runners in their group. The Tipsy Tacos have a lot of great personalities including Jake Wallach who is a professional comedian. Jake has worked for Second City in Chicago and has been able to bring a lot of comedic energy to their team events. Although this team is great at cracking jokes, there is nothing humorous about their competitive fire. They are currently 2-2 and are looking for another strong win this week in the Donut Mile. The Tipsy Taco roster also includes Sonny Ta, Sean Peters, Kelly Harris, and Nicole Wilcox. Peters, Wallach, and Wilcox all live outside of St. Louis which is something they take great deal of pride in. If they compete as well as they did in their costume run, they will find their team at the top of the standings heading into week 6. Their team considers every team in the league a rival especially Andrew Shaw. Although Shaw isn't a team, he is an athlete on the Bacon and Legs. He was good friends with Wallach before the competition started. The Tipsy Tacos have several different strengths outside their running ability. Sean Peters and Kelly Harris are both newcomers to the Spewak Training Family but are both extremely disciplined runners and people. Peters is a motivated college student at Virginia Tech and Harris is a successful college professor/researcher. Sonny Ta is a jack of all trades but takes most credit for his ability to teach Mark Spewak how to fix things around his house. Nicole Wilcox is an established runner who has run the Boston Marathon and various other major marathons. Her claim to fame is her ability to make those around her laugh at any given time. The Tipsy Tacos have all done an amazing job encouraging each other along the way and have a group chat that is consistently firing off great energy. When we asked Hoffecker why their team is competing in this competition, her answer was simple, "We wanted to have a good time and connect with other Spewak Training runners virtually." In addition to their competition on the roads, they are also raising money for the nonprofit No Kid Hungry throughout the competition. We wish Team Tipsy Tacos nothing but the best as they progress into the second half of our team competition! Info on their featured non profit here: https://secure.nokidhungry.org/site/Donation2;jsessionid=00000000.app20051b?df_id=18508&mfc_pref=T&18508.donation=form1&s_src=googlemain&s_subsrc=200HAGN1G0&utm_source=google&utm_medium=search&utm_campaign=2020_brand
