Coach Crowe's Tip of the Week

Winter Challenge Race #1  “How can I get my race times faster?” This is probably the most frequent question I get asked as a coach.  The best race strategy is to even out your splits and negative split.  Negative splitting refers to running the last half of a race or workout faster than the first half. Running a more conservative first few miles will give you the strength to run faster paces at the end of a race.  Time prediction workouts or races are a great way for you to test your prowess at negative splitting.  This week’s challenge is one of those race prediction runs.  My strategy for running this race is to start out the first half of the race 10 to 15 seconds slower than you would normally race.  Try to keep each mile as close to that pace as possible.  At the half way point start increasing your pace and hit the finish line at your fastest pace.  Use this strategy when you predict your time and at your next race. *Do you want a topic or question covered?
