Ferguson Twilight Run celebrates 10 years!

On Saturday, May 18th, Live Well Events hosts their 10th Annual Ferguson Twilight Run. This year’s event features a 1-mile fun run, a 5K, a 10K, a pre and post race concert, and a new 10-mile race to celebrate their 10th anniversary.  The Ferguson Twilight Run has been a St. Louis staple running and walking event since its inception in 2010. Dwayne T. James, the race director shared that the original idea of starting a run developed while brainstorming ideas for connecting health and wellness to this North County community.  “I believe it is important for local events to be offered so that more runners and walkers have the ability to participate and even consider participating.  There are many runners now that started out the first year as a spectator or volunteer. They got inspired because the run was happening in their community and on their street.  They were able to get empowered to start out on their own running journey,” James said.  Since 2010, the Ferguson Twilight Run has averaged over 1,600 participants from year to year. Their signature event has several features to their event including a safe and closed course that tours through historic Ferguson. Big River Running Company a nationally ranked race timing company is in charge of their results and race management.  “The goal of our event is to bring a running event to our community while showing off our beautiful city. Our race is unique in the sense it’s held on a Saturday night in North County,” James said.  All race proceeds benefit non profit organizations that provide programs and events that showcase the enjoyable, healthy, and sustainable aspects of fitness activities in North County. All abilities are welcome. The 1 mile and 5k both attract walkers and youth.  If you plan on joining the fun, expect to arrive early! Their free pre race concert starts at 4:30 p.m. The running event kicks off with the 1 mile fun run starting at 4:45 p.m. Be sure to stick around after for the expo, awards, and concert from the Dirty Muggs.  “We have a band at the end of the race and cheer stations/bands along the course. Our goal is to reach 1,800 participants. Please feel free to follow us on social media and visit our website for more race day information,” James said. Registration is still open online. You can also sign up on race day starting 4:30 p.m. All entries include a race tee shirt and all finishers receive a medal.
