The impact Spewak Training has made!
From day one of Spewak Training, I have always wanted to create a team full of positive minded people that is also welcoming and inclusive to all. One of the best compliments I get is when people outside of our team echo that same sentiment. Seeing people in the community genuinely respect and admire our athletes is the highest honor of them all. It’s always been my belief that life is a team sport. One of my favorite things about my job is that we are able to cultivate a team culture while helping individuals improve on their own as well. My goal with this team is to make sure we all are able to reach our goals while reminding ourselves the most important thing is to be the best teammates and humans possible in the process. One of our athletes, Jorge Garcia coined the phrase, “Nothing is ever done alone.” It’s one of the simplest yet strongest mantras I have come across. Spewak Training athletes may compete in races on their own but the beauty of being a part of this team and family is that there is an entire community behind them supporting them every step of the way. No matter how fast you run, that’s special. I don’t need to be the one to tell you that throughout the course of this pandemic businesses and organizations have struggled. From day one, our goal as a team has been to keep our athletes motivated through virtual competitions while trying to find ways for us to unite to raise money and awareness for those in need. And you know what? It has worked! This team has poured thousands of their own dollars into different causes. When we lace up our shoes, we know there is a greater purpose outside just training for different races. For the next two months, Spewak Training is participating in our inaugural event called the Tour de Lou: Run for Small Biz. This is a non competitive running series that features different businesses and organizations in the St. Louis area. When we look back at what Spewak Training athletes did during this pandemic, I know for certain we will not just be proud of the progress we made in our running but also the impact we made on our community.
